Community Relations Coordinator

Job Description:

We’re seeking a Community Relations Coordinator to help us maintain and nurture internal and external relationships. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills, as well as an ability to foster positive relationships with individuals and organizations. The community relations coordinator will be the brand ambassador for the company, addressing internal audiences and the public to share the company’s vision and plans for achieving it.

Objectives of this role
  • Develop a strategy for building and maintaining programs and activities that will have a positive impact on the community
  • Build and maintain relationships with members of the community, key individuals, and other organizations
  • Serve as a point of contact for neighboring businesses, institutions, and communities
  • Be the principal ambassador for the company, responsible for sharing its vision with the local community
  • Gain deeper understanding with minority communities
  • Help and teach the community about the digital divide with digital equity programs
  • Work with the marketing team to develop and execute UTOPIA University, an initiative to educate and inform the community about technology, the digital divide, broadband, etc.
  • Be comfortable in front of the camera
Responsibilities:
  • Organize community outreach programs and coordinate special events that promote products, services, and ideas of the company with a specific focus in West Valley City
  • Draft and distribute communications that promote the company as well as individuals and groups within it
  • Work closely with Director of Government Affairs to attend relevant events and activities to represent the company and build strong relationships with key community members
  • Respond to inquiries from community members and other parties, and recruit knowledgeable spokespeople or information sources for assistance when needed
  • Build and promote cross-functional relationships within the company
  • Work with non-profit community
Required skills and qualifications:
  • At least two years of experience in public relations or related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive or controversial subjects with tact, kindness, and professionalism
Physical/Environment Factors:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in public relations, communications, English, journalism, or related field
  • Experience in advertising, business administration, fundraising, public affairs, public speaking, and creative or technical writing 
  • Proficiency with work productivity software or similar writing and presentation software
  • Spanish speaker a plus
