Sweet Connections: Baking Sugar Cookies with Fiber-Optic Speed

Sugar Cookie Recipe:
3 Cups of all-purpose flour
½ tsp Baking powder
⅓ tsp Salt
1 Cup unsalted butter (softened)
1 ⅓ Cups of Sugar
2 Large eggs
3 tsp vanilla extract
Making the dough:
Step 1: Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy
Step 2: Add in the eggs one at a time and mix until combined
Step 3: Add in the vanilla extract
Step 4: Mix in the flour, baking powder, salt and mix until combined
Step 5: Wrap cookie dough in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for 1 hour
Once your dough has chilled for at least 1 hour, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and prepare your cookie sheet with parchment paper. Remove the dough from the fridge and roll it out on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness. Using the cookie cutter of your choice punch out our cookies and place them on your cookie sheet. Repeat this step until you have used all the dough. Bake the cookies at 350 for 9-10 minutes or until they start to be lightly colored near the bottom. Bake a shorter time for softer cookies and longer for crispier ones. Once baked remove them from the oven and allow them to cool completely before frosting.
