IT TECHNICIAN

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

The IT Technician position will work directly with the IT Manager to maintain uptimeand efficiency of all systems within the network. They will also provide direct user support to troubleshoot issues with hardware and software applications/systems used within the company. This includes deployment, operations, support and maintenance of the various hardware and software platforms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate degree in computer science, networking, or a related field. (May satisfy requirements with an equivalent combination of job-related education, certifications and/or experience.)
  • 1-2 years experience of computer, operational, and systems support.
SELECTION FACTORS:
  •   Knowledge of various server and desktop environments, including but not limited to Windows, Linux and Apple MacBook
  • Ability to support mobile device platforms, Microsoft Office applications, Office365 email, Internet browsers, telephony and VoIP, networking including switches/firewalls/routers
  • Familiarity with cloud-based tools such as Office365 and AWS
  • Experience in managing printing solutions
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Work ethic and collaboration within a team environment
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • CAT 5/6 installation and maintenance
  • Fiber optic cabling/fiber transceivers experience a plus
  •  Experience with help desk ticketing systems
SCREENING:
  • Based on the meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge and education
  • Criminal background checks are conducted on all UTOPIA positions
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS:
  • This is an in-office position
  • Walking, prolonged standing, and carrying heavy equipment
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Some travel required to network locations/customer sites
  • Some after hours work
  • Exposure to noisy and dusty conditions
PRE-EMPLOYMENT TESTING:

Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation.
