2023 is shaping up to be a blockbuster year for the video game industry! With delayed games finally getting a release date to original games getting their start, there’s a lot to be excited about this year for gamers everywhere! Let’s get into some of the biggest video games getting released this year ranked in order of release date.

Hogwarts Legacy: Release Date – February 10

After two years of delays Harry Potter fans are finally getting the chance to go to Hogwarts! Developed by Avalanche Software this open world RPG allows you to create your own character, choose your Hogwarts house and live out your wildest wizarding world dreams! Octopath Traveler 2 – February 24

Developed by Square Enix, this anticipated sequel features a unique story system and art style as you play eight different characters on eight different adventures! Skull and Bones – March 9

After 5 years of delays Skull and Bones will finally make its debut this year on March 9th! If you are craving exciting adventures on the high seas this pirate game made by Ubisoft is for you! This open-sea adventure has no structured story campaign and gives the player the option to choose their own adventure. Check out the official trailer here:

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – March 17

The much-anticipated sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is finally coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S this year! The story is set 5 years after the end of first game and continues following the story of Cal Ketis’s journey through the Star Wars universe. Check out the official trailer here:

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – May 12

This is the game that all Zelda franchise fans have been looking forward to since the release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild. This game will have the same open world dynamic that Breath of The Wild had but will have a much greater focus on the skies and the world above Hyrule. Check out the official trailer here:

Diablo 4 – June 6

The fourth installment of the loved Diablo series is coming to fans this summer! This game will allow players to face the resurrected Lilith as the game’s world is recovering from the damage caused in previous installments. Players will have the choice to play characters from any of the five diablo classes. This game is set to have some major improvements to features and gameplay of the fan favorite series. Final Fantasy 16 – June 22

This beloved series is finally getting its sixteenth installment in 2023! Set in the fantasy land of Valisthea this installment of the series will follow character Clive as he navigates revenge, power struggles and war. Starfield – Early 2023

Bethesda Game Studio fans everywhere can get excited knowing that Starfield will be released this year. The first original game to be released from Todd Howard and Bethesda Game Studios in 25 years, Starfield is expected to be one of the biggest games released by Bethesda yet. This game will feature detailed character creation and a vast open world to explore. Set in Space players will get to explore different worlds and experience a fun sci-fi story! Alan Wake 2 – 2023

We can’t forget the horror games on this list. The long-awaited sequel to the original Alan Wake game will be releasing this year! Like the original, this game will be a story driven survival horror game that is sure to send chills down your spine. Check out the official trailer here:

Assassin’s Creed Mirage – 2023

The next installment of the Assassin’s Creed franchise will be making its big debut this year! Unlike the last couple of installments of the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be stepping away from the open world RPG approach. Redfall – 2023

Bethesda is working hard to make this year a memorable one for gamers! Redfall will be the second game set to release this year from Bethesda Game Studios. This game centers on the small island town of Redfall, Massachusetts, as residents try to survive after being invaded by vampires. This game will be an open world vampire hunter game that will let players choose from four different characters to play as they try to take their town back from the vampires. Minecraft Legends – 2023

The Minecraft universe just keeps growing! After the huge success of Minecraft Dungeons, Mojang and Microsoft are expanding the universe again with Minecraft Legends! This game will be set in the Minecraft universe as it is being invaded by the Nether and its creatures. You play as the hero meant to save the Overworld from the Nether’s corruption by uniting the Overworld against the common threat! Check out the official trailer here:

Ark 2 – 2023

Fans of the first Ark game can expect to enjoy the sequel set to come out this year! The game will be an open world survival game that features a wide range of gameplay improvements compared to the first game. Ark 2 will take place after the events of the DLC Genesis: Part 2.
